Sergio Hernandez Jr. is the Founder and Executive Director of InCity HotSpots Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to creating free and accessible opportunities for youth and families throughout Brownsville and the Rio Grande Valley.
A Master Teacher, Physical Education educator, longtime basketball official, entrepreneur, and community advocate, Sergio brings more than two decades of experience in education, sports, leadership, marketing, and youth development. His work has helped shape free youth sports programs, referee training, leadership initiatives, workforce-development opportunities, and community partnerships.
Through the InCity HotSpots Referee Academy, Sergio is especially focused on developing the next generation of officials while teaching young people communication, professionalism, accountability, and real-world job skills.
His mission is simple: remove financial barriers, create meaningful opportunities, and build stronger pathways for young people to succeed; on the court, in the classroom, and in the community.
